Salim Sawalha is the Chief Retail Officer at the National Bank of Iraq, leading retail banking strategy, digital transformation, and customer growth. With 20+ years of experience across Iraq, Jordan, and the United States, he has built and scaled retail banking and payments businesses focused on digital channels, customer-centric product innovation, and strategic partnerships. Previously, he served as Chief Retail Banking Officer at Jordan Commercial Bank, where he led a multi-year retail transformation that expanded the savings portfolio and accelerated mobile banking adoption. He also served as Country Manager for Visa across Jordan, Iraq, and Palestine, partnering with banks and regulators to advance digital payments and acceptance. Salim holds an MBA (Marketing & Entrepreneurship) from California State University, East Bay, a BSc in Economics from Yarmouk University, and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), with additional certifications in digital transformation and fintech.
