Dinesh Sharma is the CEO of Consumer Bank for Citi - Middle East, which comprises Retail banking, Wealth Management, Payments & Unsecured Lending. He is a seasoned business leader in consumer banking and risk management with 30+ years of experience, with Citibank, across Asia, Europe, Middle East and North Africa spanning 22 countries including country and regional management roles. Passionate about people development, innovation and customer experience with proven track record of delivering results in developed, highly regulated and emerging markets. Prior to his current role, Dinesh was the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for Consumer Bank for Citi, EMEA (Europe, Middle-East & Africa), responsible for managing credit, operational and fraud risk, defining risk appetite, optimizing risk capital and executing asset risk growth & optimization strategy across all Consumer Businesses in the region. Over the last 30 years Dinesh has worked across a range of functions and business units in Consumer Banking. He started his career with Citi in India as Sales & Distribution Manager for Unsecured Lending and then moved to multiple roles within Citi India – Sr. Relationship Manager for commercial banking & Securitization, Area Director for Mortgages, Business Head - Unsecured Lending, and Managing Director for Citifinancial India. In May 2002, he moved to Italy as Country Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for Citi, Italy, based in Milan and subsequently became the Chief Risk officer (CRO) for CitiFinancial Europe, based in London. Dinesh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Statistics and a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
